I'm not so sure about that. I imagine that it would just polarize things more. Terror events are perceived by some as further evidence of the essential threat from jihadis and others as evidence of the wrongheadedness of the administration in provoking them. Likewise the low incidence of terror attacks since 9/11 is viewed by some as administration success and by others as the natural order of things. It's hard for me to imagine anyone changing sides.

It will blunt the attack on the Republicans. The Dems, of course, are saying, "our failures are the reason that we are being attacked." But I don't think this sells too well.
