I was in Chicago, also in grad school and went to sleep right after the victory speech. My roommate woke me in the morning to give me the news. King and Kennedy gone in a few short months. The part of chicago i lived in bordered on the areas that were set on fire back in april. My world came to an end that day. I finished school and went back to NY later in June. Missed the dem convention, smoked alot, smoked alot of dope, met my future wife and the following summer got married on woodstock weekend. By 1972, i voted for Nixon and was working in the brokerage industry. I still consider myself a progressive today. I just dont get the tax, tax, tax of the left. JFK was against high tax rates you know.
