If major home builders paid the high-retail prices you do, for building materials, they would have been out of business decades ago.

The consumer high-retail price you are paying for supplies will not decline until consumer spending does.

Large builders are alreay paying 37% less for lumber than two years ago. Some petroleum based products are slightly higher, while the discounted price of many fixtures have plummeted.

Extrapolating the inflated costs you pay, to what you think the building industry pays is foolishness.
