The War Powers vote was not a "vote for war". That is an inaccurate description used by rightwing Republicans. The vote was for "war powers" to be given the president to use "only as a last resort" after "all diplomacy has been exhausted" if Saddam refuses to comply with inspections, etc.

Saddam did comply, no WMD were found and few diplomatic efforts were made. Bush rushed in without a plan beyond the first week. That resulted in a huge catastrophe. Very few senators voted for that kind of BS. Maybe Lieberman supported it, but no other democrats did. Not once they realized they'd been lied to and snookered.
