I tend to read the folks on SI as if we were in a large salon, just discussing the events of the day. I value their opinions (most of them anyway.)

Change 'salon' to "saloon" and agree 100%....

I remember before Iraq, discussing how NK posed a more severe threat to us. It worries me that we are facing an escalating Israel-Lebanon, Iran, NK, Syria situation, and we are in many ways depleted-- militarily, diplomatically, and very importantly, emotionally.

There are a lot of armeggedon types in the US, too. Thank heavens they don't have their fingers on any buttons. And that's the unknown dealing with Iran. Bernard Lewis is very old, but still a brilliant scholar as far as I know, and if he thinks there is a risk connected to that date and those beliefs, I am not going to sneer.

Gosh, K, if I could find those leaders I would be out campaigning for them. I want to smack people and say, ok, yeah, here we are, now what. But I do think the whole London thing lent weight to the need for continuing and improving that kind of deterrent action.
