Once you accept the above, it becomes clear that the Lebanese army does not represent the Lebanese people in general (the president is the commander-in-chief) but in much bigger part the Christian minority. This obviously leads to problems.

Which portion of Lebanon's society has the greatest representation in their army? The figures I keep reading around the news reports is around 60-70%, which, if true, is FAR in excess to their demographic representation. Reports that I've read have stated that the Syrians, who were mainly responsible for the Lebanese army, discriminated against Christians and Druze and increased the representation of the Shi'a in their military.

To view Hezbollah as “an armed terrorist organization that defies the sovereignty of the Lebanese Government” is in this context quite ridiculous.

So you think it's perfectly alright for Hizbullah to be DIRECTY ARMED by the Syrians and the Iranians, RATHER than those weapons being supplied to the Lebanese army??

And you think that doesn't violate Lebanon's Sovereignty?

It doesn't look like you grasp the complexity of the situation at all.

Funny how people looking for ways of excusing the inexcusable tend to couch their opinions with the that sentence.

No other nation of any substance would tolerate an armed militia taking weapons from a foreign nation and circumventing the legitimate governmental authority.

Well, I guess there's just not much use in continuing this further.. You have your opinion and I have mine.

We'll let the readers decide.
