Most of it is my natural curiousity.......however, there are times when people are unabashedly pro one thing or another......then you have wonder what is the reason behind their strong loyalty.

So if someone thinks its a bad thing for Jews to get attacked on the street in Europe (or killed in Seattle), that would be because they're "unabashadly pro" Jewish or because of a strong religiously based "loyalty"?

No. I feel that way too. But we are not talking about American Jews. We are talking about Israelis......people in a another country with a different nationality. The issues there have their own regional color.

Those strong feelings create biases that interfere in the logical assessment of a situation.

And in case you haven't noticed there are other people that have different biases too.

Excuse me but could you speak to the issue in my post? Sure there are other people with other biases; there are people who are anti Jewish or anti Israel. That's not the problem you have on this thread with the notable exception of Emile and maybe one other

For me, the problem is that we have people in this country who are unabashed supporters of Israeli without knowing all the facts. These are the people to whom Bush listens when he is putting together his ME policies. And most of those policies are not logical and are hurting the American image in the world. Your quick dismissal of the world's animosity towards the US is a huge mistake and demonstrates clearly the neos nearsightedness and lack of understanding how that animosity can make conditions worse. As it is now, Americans are increasingly afraid to travel abroad, and for good reason, they are mostly disparaged and/or threatened by the locals wherever they go.
