300 Dinars for a cop - ON THE MONEY on CNBC now says cops renting themselves and thier equipment out now - maybe they will take GOLD for mercenary payment - hehe.

Things are going to get ugly. Owning no gold or anything of value might keep some of the bad guys at bay if they are not more interested in killing you because of what you believe or don't believe.

But right before things get that bad, holders of gold are apt to get very rich. At least for a fleeting instant.

I saw a movie called TIMELINE recently - they go back to 12th century france - lots of people die - not because they have certain belief systems or knowledge or gold or not - but because they are around lots of chaos and violence - thats all it took. I think chen is deluded that a world in where gold REIGNS is going to be one where someone like him can thrive - from my reading of history only thug murderers pretty much THRIVE in that environment. I feel he is ill equipped. Funny about the copper pot - how many gold coin buyers know basic chemistry and physics to verify? I once worked at a pawnshop doing a network install - they dipped the gold in some chemical - many people saw what they thought was gold literally go up in smoke - hehe. Guy told me there was some acid that even dissolved real gold. Permanence is so fleeting.

interesting comment -- there was a story on NPR about goldsmiths over there in Iraq. Thugs thought they were rich and kidnapped them to get the piles of gold they didn't have. Then tried to sell them to terrsts -- who wouldn't buy them -- finally held them for ransom from their families -- didn't get much, but released them. They are leaving Baghdad now, I think ...

Yeah, gold is good if things get kinda awful for everybody. If society really breaks down ... it'll be awful for eveeryone -- bug and non-bug alike.
