<<$25 a gallon premium paint for $5 is great.>>

It certainly is. You must be getting some good deals on paint. And I won't find them.

Buying paint myself is sorta a new thing for me, but I've been doing it lately. Found out that painting a room myself is a lot better than negotiating with a professional painter and dealing with all his crew while the job is being done. I've paid thousands of dollars for these guys in the past. (Would still and need to hire them for exterior paint jobs, however.)

Costs for premium gallons of paint around my part of the earth have gone from about $37 to $41 in the same few months it has taken me to get into and experience the market for paint myself.

I primarily buy Benjamin Moore paint, not the cheap stuff, which I'm sure you can get for less if you get another brand. I've also bought a couple gallons at various times over the past couple months from Sherwin Williams, and that goes up every time I buy it, too.

Oddly enough, a story appeared in the Wash Post recently about the rising cost of paint. Behr paint (sold at Home Depot, with Behr paint company owned by Masco Corp.) reported it had raised prices for the first time in quite a while.

The resins and other components of premium paint which cause it to cover well in only one or two coats, or not drip, or not do all the bad things ordinary paint does, reportedly all cost more now than they did just a little while ago.....so we all pay more.

I'd have to pay my favorite painter more now, too, to save from doing the job myself, and I don't feel like doing that.

I got the time. I got the dime. I don't feel like paying 50 cents for a 10-cent job I can do myself. <<GG>>
