Jim is kind of a twitchy SOB and cheap. At the coffee shop he likes to "split tickets" with Lynn so he doesn't lose the entire $3. Buck and a half is about his limit per ticket.

Last Sunday Donny and Lynn were there and Jim wasn't. Next day I tell Donny in front of Jim, too bad you left so early, you could have seen Lynn hit a $1,000 winner. Jim got twitchy. Then Lynn doesn't show up until today and Jim has had his shorts in a knot wanting to know I was just kidding.

I walk in today and Lynn and Jim are there. Now Jim has been asking Lynn about this and talk turns to the $1,000 ticket. I haven't told Lynn about the prank but Lynn catches on very fast. "Where have you been"? "Down in Springfield cashing that $1,000 ticket". That one worked out well.
