C2, nice article. thanks. this is what I drew from it, and it fits perfectly into a previous example I posted here.

"If terror is to be defeated, you have first to drain the swamp. Muslims have to be persuaded that we are on the same side, that there is no witch-hunt against Islam and that the wars involving British troops are about stopping Islamists and the corruption of their religion. This means Muslims being alert to extremists in their ranks and being prepared to identify them to the police. It means Muslims becoming intolerant of radical mullahs and hounding them out of their mosques."

Whatever Muslims are exposed to in England, it's can't be significantly different from what Hindus are exposed to in England -- most of the rest of us would be very hard put to tell the difference between an Indian, a Pakistani, and an Afghani just by looking at them, or working with them, or sitting next to them in class, and so forth.

I can pick out a Hazara because they're ethnic Mongolian, and usually can pick out someone with Iranian background because the skin is fairer, but other than that, forget it.

I can't tell Pashtoon from Dari from Hindu just by looking at them or listening to them talk, except the women if they're wearing native clothing like sari vs. scarf.

If my theory is correct, then prejudice doesn't explain the difference in radicalism.
