IMHO (and mind you, you don't see this "IMHO" qualifier these days as so many folks are so very cocksure of their opinions), because Israel had failed to defeat Hezbollah quickly as it had expected, it is very desperate in wanting to win the war at all costs. Hence Israel's disproportionate use of force in an attempt to intimidate and terrorise and to subdue Hezbollah. However, I do note that some folks believe it is possible that things are going according to plan for Israel.

Bush is blatantly abetting Israel because he has to be seen as doing everything possible to defeat the Muslims or else he and his " New Con Men" will do very poorly in tghe upcoming elections in November.
