Buddy, There can also be pollutants in the water that kills the fish. There is a natural occurrence at times, called "red tide" that kills thousands of fish, and sea mammals.

The main problem with the Viet Nam war was that the politicians tried to call the shots which put hand cuffs on the military officers that knew how to run a war. I friend of mine, some time ago, was there, and when he told me that early in the war, if a convoy was fired on, they had to radio to HQ to get permission to defend themselves with return fire. All that did was get more of our soldiers killed without reason.
