"Hezbollah has a "target rich" enviornment, where the Israelis have an extremely "target poor" one."

That is part of it. Plus, Israel is trying to assault prepared positions. And lastly, Israel is in the unenviable position of being poorly equipped for the war they are fighting. Their ground forces are dependent on their tanks. Unfortunately, the positions they are trying to assault make it easy for Hezbollah to use their very sophisticated anti-tank weaponry from concealed positions. So Israel is losing their very expensive tanks without inflicting much damage. Losing a tank costing in the range of $5 million to a weapon costing in the range of $10 thousand without inflicting much damage at all is a game that gets old quick.
