Yep, FDR was a great President. Obviously that does not mean he's GOD. Unlike you rightwingers, progressives don't require other human beings to be up on pedestals. We don't go around thinking that some people are 'holy' while others are not. People are just people. The Founding Fathers didn't give all people full human status, tried to conduct biological terrorism, murdered their fair share of folks and didn't give women the right to vote. We, as progressives, learn from the mistakes and foibles of others and try hard NOT to repeat them, not use them as excuses for foul behavior. Gitmo, NSA spying, Iraq, Lebanon...these are being done IN OUR TIME. That means YOU would support fascism, monarchists, the inquisition, the nazis, Stalin, etc. etc. just because those were the authoritarians in charge. Your mindset allows this type of behavior to flourish because you are unable to think for yourself and believe that being servile to authority is the right way to live. That's very, very sad. The 'Jihadists' can't take over a third world country like Iraq. Exactly how would they take over the US of A? HOW?????????? Think for a change. Think rationally for a change. It's your type of hyperventilating hysteria against 'those people' that allows true fascism to flourish. Exactly what diplomacy took place in the ME? What radicalized OBL? People are dying in Iraq because there has been a counter-invasion by both Jihadists, and former Ba'thists sworn to destroy the Iraqi nation and subjugate its people. Bzzzzzt. You lose. It's obvious that you aren't even paying attention to the corporate media or the US military. You're just spouting rightwing propaganda. People are dying in Iraq because the US of A, on a pack of lies and for profit, toppled a secular dictatorship that we had backed at one time and left a POWER VACUUM. The US military has admitted time and again that 'foreign fighters' are less than 5% of the insurgency. How did they get into Iraq? They got in because there was no Saddam brutally keeping them out. The Sunni insurgency is part of the problem but this isn't just Baathists whom that idiot Bremmer kicked out and told they were not welcome in their own country. That would include progressive, liberal Iraqis who became Baathists because they wanted to get along in a brutal system. This would include people who didn't even know they were Sunnis until they had to take sides. What the US Military finally can admit to is that there is a CIVIL WAR in this power vacuum created by the hugely botched job in Iraq. A burgeoning civil war, a possible civil war, spiral into civil war....it's all the same thing in different clothing. Of course there's a civil war. Sunnis and Shiites killing each other JUST BECAUSE they are Sunni or Shia. That's civil war. The biggest problem now is that the Shia militia, who have infiltrated the Iraqi security forces and the gov't are making a power grab against their previous oppressors, the Sunni. DUH. That's human nature. This is what happens after shock and awe, looting, massive corruption and idiot Republicans putzing around in a country whose history they don't know, whose language they don't speak and whose people they have zero respect for.
