There is a common pattern in each of these countries and crises; the US does something ineffective and unintentionally negative for our cause, the bad consequences become clear, the right screams the problem is that we didn't do enough (of the bad thing, but they won't admit it's bad) and the left screams that we shouldn't be doing hardly anything (in situations where the world looks to the US to do something). I am thoroughly fed up with the blind naivete on all sides in the US debate. I am still looking for someone with the bold new idea to disrupt this sterile, putrid paradigm.
