I agree completely.

I do think the rehabilitation of America won't take long if a democratic administration comes in. Folks all over the world know that the US government isn't the same as the US people- and they know there is a huge portion of the US public who are very unhappy with Mr. Bush. I know the folks on the right tend to say these people, who demonstrate, and don't approve of stupid wars, are "harming" American interests- but I actually think these folks are keeping the rest of the world on message- the message is that America is dynamic, and while there may be unsophisticated hawks leading the country right now, there are also a lot of people who can't WAIT to boot this administration on to the garbage heap of history and move on.

Things can always get worse, that's true. But there isn't a lot we can do about it. I marched in the streets to stop the Iraq war from happening. I didn't realize at the time that not only does Bush never consider he has made mistakes, he doesn't care what anyone in the country thinks about his policies either. He really doesn't care about polls- just as he has said. As far as I am concerned a leader who does not care about what his people want is not leading a democracy. So until he leaves we are in some other kind of country, and we'll just have to pray, or meditate, upon the hope that the world as we know it is still around at the end of his reign. Considering his biblical bent, and the fascination some folks have with the end times, including him, apparently, I'd say that armageddon fascination is the biggest worry I have.
