Rove is now pounding on, get this, the Republicrook candidate for Senator in Connecticut. Schlessinger has been accused of being, shudder, a blackjack card counter who is banned from casinos in his own state. I don't support the guy and wouldn't vote for him if I lived in the Nutburger state, but this is interesting on several counts:

1. Rove's sleaze is being aimed at the legitimate candidate from his own party. I thought this was the administration that values loyalty above all else. Man, they must love JoeMentum in the Whitewash House.

2. Card counting is not illegal. It cannot be proven in court, unless Big Brother has finally learned to read minds. It is a skill to brag about with pride. It is the triumph of science above rigged odds. Ah, there's the rub. The Republicrook base hates science. Science is always coming up with horrible ideas like global warming and stem cell research. Bad scientists. Bad, bad science.

3. Rove will find a way to make using superior mathematical skills look like it comes from Osama. Again, the GOP base pretty much gave up math in 4th grade when they hit long division, and many even earlier, when they hit subtraction.
