jack, I have been involved in politics for 35 years in alaska, including running for our state legislature. Our elections are not rigged in any way. Our populace is pretty clueless, in my opinion, as they have a tendency to vote for morons like Don Young, ted Stevens and Murkowski--all terrible piliticians (three of the worst in congress), but I blame that on the people not the elections per se.

Now if you want to talk about gerrymandering--yes you are right; or lobbyists, yes you are right.

But once again the people refuse to vote for public financing of campaigns whihc are the real problem; and which we desparately need.

The problem with our democracy is not rigged elections, it is the non knowledge directed voting by the populace.

Both of bush's elections could have been rigged, but the vote was so close it still comes down to THE PEOPLE makng bad choices.
