I saw your reference to misguided but didn't think it addressed my objection to the phrase PearlyButton used. You said the usage was problematic in that the terrorists don't believe they are misguided. My whole reaction was based on the context and tone of the post by PearlyButton, who DID see them as misguided idealistic youths. So I will stay with my interpretation of that phrase as a sort of reduction and diminishing of the acts rather than the vile ones they were, but I understand the definitions standing alone can apply in some ways.
