"...general market and the direction remains down" very true IT, but IMHO very likely untrue ST I have a miners - short fund "straddle" going now, expecting the miners to go up first (perhaps into Oct 1) and later the short funds, but then again as you suggest, the exact opposite could happen. There is a small chance both will go up in unison, but I doubt both go down together. Whichever way it plays out, I expect to be ahead at the end of the day by selling the first position that runs up, then later the second.
