I fired a new employee on his first day partially because he arrived 30 minutes late and in a taxi. The main reason for the firing was that we had a hiring freeze. He did receive two weeks severance and the person who hired him received his reward soon thereafter. We did not have a bureaucracy so decisions came swiftly.
