I think your article highlights that statistical profiling is a slippery slope. But I'd rather err on the side of pissing off Muslim tourists, rather than losing another 3,000 innocent Americans. It's sad, because when we do these things we take more and more steps towards isolationism and that is bad for our people, economy, and values.

But at the end of the day, let's go back to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (http://www.pateo.com/images/maslowmaster4ts.gif). If you don't have safety and security, then you won't ever get to all the other stuff above that tier. Physical needs and the need for security trump every other need a human being has. In other words, I'd rather be alive and know that innocent Muslims aren't getting a fair shake, than dead with my last thought being I wish they had said to hell with political correctness and statistically profiled people for terrorism prevention.
