Talk about history. I spent about a week late July with a Marine from The Old Breed. He hit Peleliu, and two other amphibious beach heads. We were on historical ground, The Lolo Trail, which is where Lewis and Clark crossed the Bitterroots, Chief Joseph led his Nez Perce on their exodus to Canada, and where the one-armed General Howard chased him. More recently, though seventy years ago, this Marine trapped marten there and created his own history. We searched for and investigated the ruins of all his old cabins. My brother-in-law may be done with his traverse of the Dismal Swamp in their 43 foot catamaran sail boat. You probably know George Washington surveyed that. I love history.
