So are you asserting that say a $15 an hour minimum wage wouldn't put a lot of people out of work? If so that's a rather extreme statement. If not why bother with the "easy to say" comment?

A living wage was pretty much a given for anyone willing to work as I grew up in this country.

When did you grow up?

Average real wages have never been significantly higher. Depending on what data you are looking at and how you adjust for inflation they might have at certain points been marginally higher, but never much higher.
