From my point of view the step from one to two is, most likely, greater than the step from two to four.

Except one to two was the same core. Two to four is a new core.

1 year is aggressive IMHO. But the good news is that the socket/chipset should be stable by then- so it's only debugging the core.

Platform issues do take longer to iron out at the OEM's. If they can make a clean core that plugs in cleanly into 1207, then the upgrade part for OEM's should be "easy" (not really that easy :).
