I mentioned the LaHaye books earlier as having brought the End Times back into pop culture. I admit that I read one and found it unbelievably badly written with the most cardboard characters ever created, but then I thought the Celestine Prophesy was pure garbage, and people started a cult around it. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find numbers up, but I don't know how you separate that kind of transient superficial mentality from the sincere believer who bases his life on his faith.
