mc, re: "short of the year" although SHLD might fall more later this year, regardless of if whether it rises ST, the decline appears to me to be limited to its strong support of last year in the 111-120 area. Nevertheless, a drop from 167 to 111 is potentially quite a drop on a dollar for dollar basis, so I can understand giving it a "short of the year" nomination.

But on a percentage basis for "short of the year" take a look at our old friend PARL. Those that had the presence of mind to short a break of the lower trendline of its advance into early this year would have been rewarded with approximately a 75% drop in the stock price from the February high to Tuesday's low (the stock got a nice intraday boost today, however, on a new contract announcement.)
