"he would have a serious weapons to use against the US."

Except that, at that time, he wasn't looking for a weapon to use against the US.

Keep selling the Iraqi oil, but take maybe half of Kuwait's production off the market and get the Saudis to take some fraction of theres away and watch the prices soar.

I think that is named OPEC.

The first Bush War benefited oil companies much more than it benifited the citizens of America.

But if he controlled Kuwaiti oil in addition to Iraqi oil, and was in position to possibly intimidate the Saudis in to going along with him, he would have a serious weapons to use against the US.

How about this idea. He takes Kuwait and no one stops him, although the UN condemns it. We wait until he takes Saudi Arabia (3-5 years later, who knows?). THEN we get a huge UN coalition to go in a whupp his ass outta SA and Kuwait, and all the way back to Baghdad until we get him and Uday/Qusay. THEN the UN coalition denies the royal families of Kuwait and SA their unelected leadership positions over those two countries, elections are held for democratic governments in SA, Kuwait and Iraq with the whole world supporting the process since Saddam showed (via his overthrow of Kuwait and SA) that the dictator/royal family system was unacceptable to world interests in such a vital region.

That would have brought democracy to Arabia with 100% of the world behind it. Damn, if I'd have been President back in 1991 we wouldn't be in the pickle we are today!
