If memory serves me correctly, that claim is based on a single sketchy news item quoting questionable sources. Why would you hang your hat on something like that when there's so much other good evidence to work with? Start with the good stuff and work back, instead of trying to work forward from the poorest available information.

One military application of thermite is to destroy equipment one wishes to keep out of enemy hands. Is it conceivably possible it was used in that manner on 9/11? Sure, any explanation is possible when you don't have all the facts. Is it possible to positively prove the presence of thermite with available information? It is not.

I'll ask the question again. Why try making your opening argument from your weakest possible claims, especially when that argument relies in part on claims which are easily disproven?
