How specific do you think the chain needs to be? Does the exact location of the steel within the intact building need to be known? I don't think that is the case. Steel collected from ground zero post-collapse should be enough to say that the steel came from the towers. A thermate reaction is very specific in the evidence it leaves. If steel from the towers shows that thermate reacted with the steel then there's really little to be left to speculate on imo. Demanding that every minute technicality be met is something to consider BUT...many murderers have been set free based on technicalities even though they did commit murder.

It took months to clear that site. Materials were examined, but how much effort should be put into proving something so obvious as what clearly took place. Islamic terrorists crashed fully fueled planes into the buildings. The floors near the impact had structural failure and the upper section of the buildings collapsed upon the lower section crushing the whole thing to bits. It's not complicated.
