07:26 RHAT Red Hat: Oracle does not appear to be entering Linux space; closer partnership between ORCL and RHAT possible - Jefferies (24.70 )

Jefferies believes RHAT is still a Buy as ORCL doesn't appear to be entering the Linux space, other than through their words. Firm believes August is tracking well and recently filed financials reveal that while $80 mln in FY08 rev from Jboss is probably too high, a 100% y/y growth rate doesn't seem unreasonable. Firm says that ORCL didn't make any announcements at LinuxWorld last week, and they don't seem to be pursuing Linux talent or smaller vendors. It's even possible they move closer to RHAT as each side regains composure after sparring over Jboss. Firm says that given the data (or lack thereof) there is one other interesting possibility that springs to mind, a "closer" partnership between ORCL and RHAT. Firm says it appears the rate of uptake for RHEL has not slowed and that RHEL5 will probably not be out until the end of the RHAT's fiscal year in February.
