The point is that Israel lost public opinion with their enemies. As I have tried to point out before, the Arabs have not always held the view that Jews should be pushed into the sea. That hatred came after Jewish immigration, partition, and loosing wars. Ever since, the Israeli response has been to provide them with more of the same treatment, under the theory that eventually enough of this treatment will magically produce a different result. Why?

Going nuke will solve no problems. Jewish stature worldwide would be below zero in the wake of such an attack. Remember, that 50 years from now, the USA is not going to be the sole superpower. Both China and India will be in that class, and they don't have the religious connections with Israel that the USA does. The world 50-100 years from now might well not like the idea of a small group of people having many WMD, especially if they have shown proclivities to actually use them in a wholesale fashion.

The ME needs to get back on the peace track, not the war track.
