That's total BS, rightwing conspiracy theory garbage.
Carter was very much against the Islamic radicals in Iran. However, the Shah self-destructed, had been asking for it for a long time, and once the revolution happened, there was no military option for the US. Iran is far too large a country to invade it, and all our assets were on the Shah's side.

The rightwing has some explaining to do. Because if they call Carter a failure on Iran and Lebanon, what about Reagan? When did Reagan ever attack Iran? Instead, Reagan shipped Iran sophisticated weapons systems, illegally I might add, and against US policy for negotiating withj terrorists. Reagan also promised not to "cut and run" in Lebenon but did so a week later. Reagan is the rightwing's hgero but he didn't do any better over there, did he? Reagan was also a big arms supplier of Saddam, including possibly the very same WMD the Bushies told us were the reason we had to invade.
