That was an interesting picture EC. You could see our ancestors in that boys face.

Tonight on the science channel they will have a special on the latest evidence regarding the Neanderthal:

1) were they a separate species? I think the DNA is different?

2) did we interbreed? Maybe we interbred but the offspring were sterile?

3) They were in europe 200,000 years before we got there about 100,000 years ago. The were built like a weight lifter, very strong and muscled.

4) they had a cranial capacity of 1500 to 1800 CC's, our brain is 1300 to 1500 cc's. Homoerectus had a craniel capacity of about 800 too 1100 cc's I think. Brains cc's are measured in relation to body weight (residue brain matter they call it--thinking matter-lol-although the convolutions are of equal importance in determining intelligence.)

5) they had few tools until homosapiens started mixing with them and then learned immediately to make the tools as well as homosapiens.

6) they had art and buried their dead

7)50,000 years ago there were three separate species on earth, homosapien, neanderthal and remnants of homoerectus.

8) homoerectus could make fire and tools, but no art.

I think yaks were a staple food-lol.

As anthropologist's dig deeper into our evolution they are finding we had the same type of branching tree of various relatives (species) as other animals i.e. our decent was not a straight line as was thought until recently.

My comment: of course our evolution was like other animals. We have been having to understand ourselves through the distorted lense of religion, so it is no wonder we still understand so little about ourselves.

Next time I am near a church I think I will light a candle for them-lol.

Just more fluff-lol.
