>>We do it all racking up DEBT and Iran probably has a budget surplus.<<

US credit card debt is now soaring as rising house prices can no longer be tapped as a source of funds by US consumers. The US is likely in a recession already. But the President doesn't want Americans to know that till after the November elections.

President Bush faces no good choices here, his own chosen policy has deprived him of all of them. But he does have one last choice in hand and that is to attack IRAN in a desperate escalation. It would have to be an air campaign with air strikes and cruise missiles. President Bush has no strategic ground reserves.

But the Iranians are fully prepared. And they have never forgotten that the US launched Saddam Hussein against them in an eight-year war in the early 1980s.

There's even a question as to just how much 'terrorism' Hezbollah is into these days. In the meantime, Israel/US is trying to dismantle Hamas proving yet again that no Neocon, either Israeli or American, cares one whit about democracy.

Since the US has decided not to negotiate with terrorists --- apparently the Bushies only negotiate with friends which is ridiculous and childish --- Hezbollah is no longer a terrorist organization since it is totally involved in the ceasefire with Israel which the US backs entirely. Just as the Bushies elevated OBL and AQ to the level of a state, the Israelis have elevated Hezbollah to the level of a government with which it negotiates on military matters.

I still think the only thing the Bushies care about is money and they would be delirious with glee if Iran help ratchet up the price of oil...even if it sent industrialized nations into depression. Who knows, Iran-Bushies-Saudis-ExxonMobil-Venezulea, etc. all gain from the same high oil price playbook.

Weird.
