Maybe he wasn't Ghandi, but Yitzhak Rabin brought Israel closest to peace in my lifetime. I remember being astounded, because I had thought it was impossible.

That was all ended by a right-wing Israeli assassin. The right wing has been running Israel ever since.

IMO, both the USA & Israel are currently in the unique position of having sufficient military might that they can afford diplomacy


I have been away all day, Life has been very irritating....
But you missed one person with the same unique position. Nasrallah also has enough strategic, political and military currency that if he offered the right deal, Israel would grab it. So he could make Israel an offer they could not refuse.
