Besides that fact that we are having difficulty just getting Space Shuttles off the ground these days, the SBL system can be defeated by simply putting a mirror finish on the spinning warheads or launch vehicles, deflecting the laser energy. That mirrors can be used to deflect the energy is proven by the fact that mirrors are used to AIM the unattenuated laser beam close to it's point of origin, where it is strongest. This is only ONE simple proposed warhead and launch vehicle defense, from an array of them available that would defeat this hugely expensive white elephant program. Makes a good make-work jobs program for geeks, anyway!
