You left out the 35% figure for the 2000's showing a decline during a period of conservative governance, when the movement controlled the bully pulpit and garnered major media exposure. So much for recruiting a new generation to the cause.

Conservatives have more of a media voice now, equal footing in the think tank world and two standard-bearer presidencies in the modern era that took them from the Goldwater wilderness to mainstream.

But no lasting majority and no sign of one on the horizon. The more likely scenario is fading away after one of the marquee periods in power and a resurgence once we have shifted to more moderate or liberal presidencies for 10-20 years.
