If we assume that oil prices will continue to raise then several alternative energy sources become viable. I would love to have an electricity generating windmill and be able to present my utility with a bill instead of paying them.

Space based solar panels with conversion into microwave energy transmitted to earth in tight beams is becoming feasible. It has the advantage of good will. Because they would be in LEO they would circle the globe and would naturally beam energy to collection facilities around the globe. Third world countries could be charged variable costs while first world consumers would bear the development and launch costs in addition to variable costs.

Geothermal is already cheaper than petrochemical energy in some areas.

Don't look for Florida to change the formula any time soon. People don't see that the ride of shifting tax burden to sales taxes is not a free ride.

The anti drilling crowd would use a laxing of standards to help liberals gain power, so Florida conservatives are left pandering to them and hampering our nation's energy independence.
