OK.

They are welcome to add their cultural gems to ours.
Absolutely. And many have. Ever notice how many Chinese and Japanese restaurants there are? Or how often Beethoven is played? This country was built by immigrants and most added to its diversity, strength, and beauty.

Never been to London.
Get there if you can. It's a fantastic and interesting city. Take the big red bus tour first, then go to specific places of intererest, such as the Tower of London or the London Eye or any of the many museums. The people are friendly and seem to like Yanks. And the bobbies are helpful and honest.

Visit other parts of the UK too. I found the north of England most interesting. And Edinburgh Castle has to be seen to be believed.
