..if we go to war with a country who is harboring terrorists or is in sympathy with them, then our soldiers are at risk.

If we go to war with a country ... that is a signatory to the Geneva Conv. we should accord their soldiers Geneva treatment - and that situation describes the war to overthrow Saddam to a tee. We did treat captured Iraqi army soldiers as prisoners of war and I'm sure they've all been released long ago. Most were simply disarmed and sent home as I recall.

Things like torture are unlikely to yield actionable intelligence. Plus, it degrades the effectiveness of the troops when they are in an environment where such things are allowed or encouraged. And finally, it turns world opinion against us. With so many negatives and almost no positives, it is stupid to practice it.

That's a fine argument. But are we practicing torture? I know leftists claim so but it seems we aren't. I recall a US officer was disciplined for firing a weapon close to an insurgents head, though he gained valuable intelligence about a future attack thereby. The punishment of this officer and the Abu Ghraib soldiers and the reports from Guantanamo of decent treatment of detaineees held there would indicate the US isn't following a policy of torturing but is being lied about by leftist propangandists. So why is the left lying about the US?

The Constitution is central to what makes America what it is. To circumvent it because following it inconvenient means we are that much closer to a dictatorship. If you wonder why you get awarded the label of "fascist" it is because of statements like that. People like you are a greater danger to this country than any terrorist.

FDR imprisoned all the Americans of Japanese descent with no charges, violating several of the bill of rights. Was he a fascist?

I think what he did was wrong and I'd be opposed to locking up all Muslims in America just because of their religion - which would be equivalent of what FDR did. So if I'm a fascist and a danger to the country, FDR must be have been vastly more evil than me, right?

BTW, I don't think we're doing anything contrary to the Constitution now and this is another area where leftists are lying about the US. NSA spying on int'l calls should be ok, trackign intl fund flows s/b ok too constitutionally.
