I think another factor, perhaps not considered in the study, is what the home atmosphere was for the kiddos. If parents are violent, that would make the cartoons have a greater behavioral pull for these kids than in families that were more verbally expressive of feelings. Most kids I know handle cartoons and violent video games quite well and it helps them, at times, with pent up aggression. W gets to attack IRAQ and most of us don't have that outlet.
