Wharfy ..

Now I know what we can do with all those
'spent' commercial reactor fuel rod assemblies ..

Turn them into ............

Radioisotope thermoelectric generators

The spacecraft has really been put to the test during its nearly 30 years of space travel, flying by the outer planets and enduring such challenges as the harsh radiation environment around Jupiter. Voyager 1 owes its longevity to its nuclear power source, called a radioisotope thermoelectric generator, provided by the Department of Energy.

It's been working flawlessly for 30 years
with only a single fueling .. no maintenance ..
no service calls .... Here's hoping
the DOE can spare a couple for the tax payers <gg>

I want one !!

Triff ..
