"as I speculated before you could get a lot of intraparty battles but still have something that strongly resembles our current two party system."

I would put better than even money on that option. As the liberals fail to replace themselves and natural death of their members accelerates their decline, the politics of the leftist party, whatever it is called at the time, could get really messy.

The longer Republicans are in power the larger the long term impact of enforcing the SCOTUS Beck ruling will have on unions. (Remember Clinton ordered the Labor Department not enforce it.) With more members realizing that the rape and pillage of corporations just hurts themselves, the amount of funds available to union bosses for their political activity will decline. As union contributions dry up, democrats will become more dependent on the rich lunatic left which should cause the expulsion of ever more liberal moderates from the party.

After all democrats are complaining that self proclaimed socialist Hillary is too conservative for them. If socialism is considered unliberal, just what are the liberals in control demanding to gain acceptance as a properly liberal member?

"Or it’s possible that the trend is much weaker than the article claims".

We can hope for the health of our union it underestimates the effect.
