If the Oscars are not a competition and the comparison of performances is like comparing apples to oranges, how do they decide to whom the Oscar should "go"??

Sorry, Mary, but I think it's a laughable effort to sanitize
the notion of competition, while everyone involved knows that it IS a competition for very big bucks.

It's intellectual dishonesty and PCism of the worst order.

As for children, I'm certainly not advocating a "dog eat dog" structure.

However, removing any competition, opportunity to win, or
ramifications for failure does a disservice to children, unless you 've figured out a way to keep up the fiction for
the balance of their lives.

The real world doesn't work that way.
