If we reduced our oil imports by the exact amount that we currently import from the Middle East, we would still probably import oil from the Middle East. Esp in the long run as they have the largest reserves.

But even if not a drop came from the ME to the US, it would make almost no difference. Oil is fungible. If part of the supply is removed it effects all consumers. If we buy oil from Mexico and China buys it from Saudi, than if Saudi oil is cut off the Chinese will start bidding up the Mexican oil.
