To give Americans immunity in Iraq is to place ourselves above the law of a sovereign nation. We gave ourselves the rights of permanent conquest of Iraq. No nation would allow that unless it was thrust upon them at gunpoint. We dismiss Iraqi law as unacceptable as a means of policing American behavior in their country. Your failure to grasp the importance of this fact drips with a cultivated arrogance -- as if the thin prospect of Americans prosecuting their own consistently and diligently is more than a remote possibility.
