Don't worry about it. We will always have museums and time capsules to remind us what it was like in the old days.

Competition can never be just for the museums, time capsules, and maybe old plays and movies. Its part of human nature. Any serious attempt to stamp out competition will be only partially successful and will be massively destructive.

Its fortunate that the competitive spirit is difficult to stamp out. Its not just that its psychologically beneficial in many situations. Its not just that it gives us better performances. It also is a big part of how wealth is generated. You can have a free market with a lot of competition, or you can have a largely socialist market with a little competition and lower economic growth, perhaps even widespread poverty, or you can have a North Korean like police state and stamp out a lot of economic competition, but still have the tiniest bit left (there is likely something of a black market even in North Korea), as well as having other forms of competition (for example competition for positions in or the favor of the party)
