As I've said, encouraging people to do their best is important and I fully concur with doing so. Obviously. What I do not sanction is the pretense that there is no such thing as failure and that trying is always equivalent to succeeding. Feel good philosophies based on shaky premises are particularly vulnerable to the law of unintended consequences.
